Houston Texans Manager Rick Smith and Wife Tiffany Co-chair Pro-Vision’s Cornerstone Luncheon; It's is a Huge Success

Houston-Texans-DE-JJ-Watt Connie-Watt and Tiffany-and-Rick-Smith-Houston-Texans-ManagerPro-Vision Academy’s first annual Cornerstone Luncheon was a resounding success as professional athletes, CEOs and the media came out to show support. The sold out event was held on May 1, 2014 at the Houston Country Club where 350 guests dined and heard from guest speakers. The success was due in large part to the hard work of the Houston Texans manager Rick Smith and his wife Tiffany who co-chaired the charity luncheon. It’s just one of the many ways they have contributed to the charter school for the last seven years.

It was Ms. Smith who created the concept for the event, which was set to take place just before Mother’s Day. The event’s theme ‘Nurturing Our Future, A Mother’s Day Celebration’ was the perfect prelude for the guest speakers, Houston Texans Defensive End J.J. Watt and his mother Connie. Ms. Watt was honored during the luncheon for her charitable work with the J.J. Watt Foundation, which provides funding for after-school athletic programs that teach children the benefits of teamwork and perseverance.

During the luncheon Mr. Watt praised his mother’s work at his own charity and the care she has given to so many kids in need. Ms. Watt is responsible for much of the day-to-day operations and event planning of the J.J. Watt Foundation in addition to her charitable work with other organizations, including Pro-Vision Academy. Since its inception the Watt Foundation has raised over $1 million for middle school athletic programs, ensuring that far fewer children get left out because they can’t afford the fees or equipment.

Numerous high profile guests attended the Cornerstone Luncheon including Houston Texans head coach Bill O’Brien, ESPN commentator and Pro-Vision Board Member Jeff Van Gundy, Astros Manager Bo Porter, former Dynamo player Brian Ching, Craig Biggio and Mario Elie. The star-studded event was a huge success, raising approximately $300,000 for the charter school.
